Q - Why Did you start Aikido?
A-
I was
practicing Judo and the instructor started
to teach Aikido, claiming to be a 4th
Dan. It took about 18 months to realise he
wasn’t and by then I was graded to 1st
kyu! The club eventually invited sensei Ken
Williams to teach us.
Q -
Memories of your first lesson?
A -
The first
real lesson, with Ken Williams, was
interesting. He wouldn’t recognise any of
our grades (we had a nidan and 6 shodans)
and in the afternoon none of the shodans
returned and we never saw them again. The
nidan was allowed to keep a 4th
kyu grade and he lasted another two months.
So I started to teach with the other
remaining 1st kyu.
Q-
Favourite Technique?

Iriminage
because it’s very practical
